Lunchtime and After School French Clubs

As part of our service we offer lunchtime and after school French clubs to all students from year three to year six. Many of these children have been on holiday in France and are interested in knowing how to express themselves in French, if only to buy and ice cream or sweets. When I actually put into context the phrases that they have been learning such as making friends abroad, expressing likes and dislikes, they become even more receptive.

French Club
Lunchtime and After School clubs not only serve as a good social source for your child but also gives them either a fun introduction to the French language or a reinforcement to any knowledge that they may already have (through term time lesson, for example).
These clubs are run in term time only and last half and hour. As with my classes in Nursery and Primary schools I teach through play - such as drawing, colouring etc. (see nursery page for a breakdown of my teaching methods).

At the beginning of each term your child will be given the Lesson Plan, the Learning Objective for each lesson, any new words introduced and what each lesson consists of.

Additional Benefits
  • Your child will get their accent from me and therefore will be speaking French like a French child
  • The best way to learn is through personal experience and practise. Please talk to them if you know any French or encourage them to tell you what they have done
  • Half an hour French a week is very little when everything else around them is English, so it is really useful if you can talk about the new words introduced. You will be surprised how quickly they learn from you. You are their most treasured teacher
  • The teaching of a foreign language is important in early year settings. It enhances all aspects of a child's development and should be promoted and encouraged
